Club Announcement 24th October 2021
The Club wishes to announce that Ashleigh James has decided to leave his role as manager of Burnham Football Club to take effect immediately. The Club would like to thank Ashleigh for his efforts and contribution as a player and a manager over the last 3 years or so. It is now time to start a new chapter, stabilise performances on the pitch and for everyone to focus on climbing up the league as another new young manager, Manny Williams, sets out on what we all hope will be a long and successful managerial journey.
Statement from Ashleigh James
It’s time to announce after 3 and half years, I will be leaving Burnham Football Club. From being Captain, to Player Manager, it has been a pleasure being involved in the process of the Club’s new direction. During my time at the Club, it’s safe to say it has been a rollercoaster ride with lots of ups and downs.
My last game as Manager was due to be on Saturday 6th November, however, I feel that now is the right time as I believe I wouldn’t be able to give my all up to that date. A lot has contributed to this decision, but ultimately becoming a father for the second time in September, coupled with the commute from Andover, has made it extremely difficult to balance the work, football and family life.
I would like to thank Glenn Skivington, Nas Bashir and Adam Wardle for giving me the opportunity and experience to manage this Club. A big thank you also to Gary Reeves for his help, having a club secretary like Gary definitely makes the challenges of management a lot easier. I would like to thank my players, especially some of the senior ones (Gav, Gritty, Deno, Spike) that helped me with a lot of the things that people don’t see. From picking up the kit, to giving the home dressing room and sections of the Club a makeover.
I would also like to thank my family for always being so supportive and helpful throughout my time as manager, and Manny Williams and Eliot Derby for the time, hard work and effort they have put in over the last year and half.
From having just 5 players at my first training session we definitely managed to build something. I wish Manny the best of luck as he continues to stay at the Club and pursue his career in management.
Lastly, I would like to thank the small section of supporters who have always shown nothing but love for me at the Club. This Club will always have a special place in my heart! 💙🔵
