League Cup Winners 2023/24 – Burnham FC
Burnham FC have won the 2023/24 League Cup at Ascot United’s Racecourse Ground beating Virginia Water 2-1 and goals from Charlie Morgan and Samad Kazi.
The blues ended the first 45 of the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup Final 1-0 up when Charlie Morgan tapped in a cross from Jaiden Celestine-Charles from the left across the Virginia Water goal mouth. Then just after the second half restarted Virginia Water were awarded a penalty for a shirt pull in the box and the scoreline was one a piece.
Leo Decabo was replaced by Aitor Andon after he pulled up with a hamstring injury in the second half and with about 20 minutes to go Jaiden took a nasty knock to the head and was laid out on the pitch for several minutes before being substituted and replaced by Lamin. Thank you our own physio Millie Watts and to the physios from Virginia Water who helped Jaiden get back on his feet again.
Celebrations kicked off as soon as the final whistle blew. Both teams we awarded trophies by the Combined Counties Football League but it was the Burnham lads who walked away with the cup.
