The Luca Skivington Memorial Charity Football Match 2024
Friends, family and teammates came together for a charity football match on Sunday 4th August in memory of the tragic loss of Luca Skivington on the 6th August 2019.
The match between organisers Maidenhead Rangers FC and Luca’s XI kicked off at 1pm. With players, present and past, coming together on the pitch at The 1878 Stadium, Burnham Football Club for 3 x 30 minute segments. Luca’s XI players wore white football shirts donated by Burnham FC’s new kit manufacturer Serious Sport, with Luca’s photo on the front and his name and number (6) on the back.
During the run up to the event representatives from the Maidenhead Rangers worked hand in hand together with friends and family and collected a large number of highly sought after raffle prizes and high value auction items which were donated by friends, work colleges and local businesses to raise funds for the Centrepoint Charity together with substantial cash donations from individuals and others.
The auction and raffle included ViP tickets to next year’s Pub in the Park (Marlow), Club Wembley tickets for Man City v Man United (FA Community Shield), a signed David Villa Barca shirt, a Formula Track Day at Silverstone, a round of golf at the very exclusive Sunningdale Golf Course, a brand new iPhone 13, a signed Wycombe Wanderers shirt, several opportunities to dine at a variety of local restaurants and vouchers for various pampering sessions to highlight just a few.
Friends travelled from as far away as Thailand and New Zealand to attend the match and a total of over £7,000 was raised on the day, nearly doubling last year’s total and everyone gathered in the bar area afterwards with music provided by the talented Sound Temple DJ.
